So, I have been semi-casually looking for a Vanity for my room. I happened upon this beauty on craigslist and decided to take it home. However, it was in a desperate need of paint. I was originally going to repaint it white, but I thought, you know, my room is already boring enough with a chocolate bedspread, expresso furniture, black lamp, beige walls, etc, why not go for some COLOR? And so, I did. I choose Valspar’s City Chartreuse based off a drawing I have printed poster-size and hung up in our bedroom (although I am thinking about replace that with a new drawing – same colors, but new art). Ok, so I can’t take all of the credit for this one. I saw this post, and immediately loved the side tables. I knew I had to make them mine! We bought two of these, and the second one is still sitting in the garage waiting for me to finish it. I will get to it when I get back from visiting my sister, if not this weekend, I SWEAR! I also need to finish up some small curtains for the windows beside the front door.

Bedroom Bliss?

Our second year anniversary is coming up on the 22nd of this month. For those of you who do not know, this year is cotton, so John and I are planning to get some new bed linens for our room. Which is great, because we really need it. Right now we are using some old striped hand-me-downs and microfiber blankets/throws to sleep with, which is definitely not very stylish. However, that also presents a problem, because I’m having a difficult time deciding on what to do for the room.

Last week we purchased a pool table on clearance, which has been my husband’s dream ever since we started talking about moving into a house. We weren’t planning on purchasing one so soon, though. It just so happened that he went to the Sports Authority to figure out which table he wanted to save up for, and one of the tables was on sale for $240 (original price: over $400), so we decided to get it. We had some family over this weekend, and the pool/ping pong table was a hit, so we are definitely happy with the purchase. The only downside is that the corner pockets droop a bit, so he’s using these tension curtain rods to hoist up the pockets. Eventually though, we’ll probably just build a new base. It is a “budget” pool table, so you can only expect so much from them.

After being cooped up in our apartment for so long, we’ve neglected to make many purchases just to defer until we finally have a house, mostly because we just lacked the space. One such purchase included new dishes. Before we moved, John and I went to Homegoods and found some nice, white dishes for a pretty affordable price but didn’t want to buy them at the time because we were moving, and all of the expenses that come along with that. However, knowing the nature of inventory at stores like HomeGoods, we knew that we couldn’t wait long if we wanted to purchase them. Just this past weekend we went over and of course, they were completely sold out of the dinner plates! I was so disappointed.
