Now that the weather is cooler, I can finish some projects I started over 6 months ago. I pretty much lost all of my drive during the summer and its’ sweltering heat. It’s really not much fun to sweat buckets while attempting to work on some projects in the garage. Although I am enjoying a break from the oven known as summertime in Florida, I am already really missing the daylight. By the time we get home these days the sun has already set. It’s hard to believe I ever lived up north where the winter means gray skies during the day, and 4:30pm nightfall. I am a true Floridian now.

The Vanity is Complete
November 22nd, 2010
Finally! It only took several months, but I finally finished the vanity project. Perhaps finished is a little misleading, though. You may notice in the picture the sides where the mirror comes down are a bit knicked. This was because after everything was painted, there wasn’t enough room for the mirror to come down, so we had to use a plane to narrow the area a bit. We still need to work on that some more, and then touch-up the paint… but for now, it is fine!
Hacking our desk, old new bookshelf & vanity stool
November 7th, 2010
Last weekend John and I went to Savannah, GA to celebrate my 25th birthday, and this weekend we did a lot of “housework” … yet our bedroom is still a downright mess. The biggest accomplishment was in our office… which is still nowhere near “done.” We have done what we can just re-using what we already have with as little expenditure as possible, while also trying to make something functional and nice. So, don’t be too disappointed because there isn’t an after photo yet.
Step 3: A “fabric” Lining

Oh, the choices…
July 18th, 2010
I have spent some time now searching for the PERFECT gift wrap to use for lining the drawers of my Vanity. I’m torn between different designs/styles/colors/etc. I think this is why I tend to just go with boring things, because I can never make my mind up on something.
I suppose the good thing about this, however, is that if I get bored of what I have it’s fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. At any rate, here are a couple things I have picked out, laid on top of the progress photo to judge color.
