In reply to <a href="https://novoelle.com/?p=865/comment-page-1/#comment-2366">Melissa</a>.

The more I read about this stuff, the more I start to realize we've been set up. There is a tremendous amount of politics that go into this issue, Linda Bacon covers a lot of that in her Health at Every Size book. It just so happens that our bodies may have, from the start, been predisposition to put on extra weight...then by the time you factor in all of the social stigma, trying to fit in, and diet cycles, our weight just keeps going higher and higher. I'm not going to lie, I would still love to be thinner... it's hard to not desire that, isn't it? We're programmed to think fat = bad, and let's face it, a lot of things WOULD be easier. But instead of focusing on that, I want to focus on what I can do to live the life I want NOW, no more waiting until I'm X pounds lighter.

And part of that means that hubby and I are most likely going to try for a baby this year now that we have a new insurance plan that covers it... and kudos to you if you make that decision too! Definitely check out that Plus Size Pregnancy website and Well Rounded Mama blog. They'll give you some tips and information so that you can have the healthiest pregnancy possible. Even if you do have complications it doesn't mean that it's because of your weight. Getting size friendly medical care is also super important...nothing is more frustrating then trying to tell your doctor about problems you're having and they won't listen to you, and keep telling you to lose weight. Doc, you're FIRED!

Thanks for sharing this, Rakel! Every point definitely goes against everything we've been told. Kudos to you for taking the time to research more and better yet, put it out there for those of us that wouldn't have known otherwise. Number 19 really hits home with me as I have been actively pursuing weight loss for the sole purpose of my desire to conceive. Maybe we won't have to wait as long as I thought after all. Thanks again for taking the time to share this.
